Here is an exceptional piano. While it's true we specialize in finding older Steinway pianos in fine original condition, it's very unusual for us to find a model A in such a pristine untouched state, because the large model As and Bs were usually owned and played by serious musicians - and worn out as a result. Not so with this extremely fine model A. It was purchased new in 1918 by the Acheson family, one of the founding families of Berkeley, CA. It was never moved from the living room of the family home on Spruce St. in until we recently brought it to our showroom. It is untouched inside and out retaining its original finish, hammers, strings, keys, and everything else. Although the original varnish finish has crazed over the years, the moderate Bay Area climate has preserved the internal workings. The soundboard and bridges are excellent and the original ivory keys are in perfect condition as the piano shows evidence of only the most minimal amount of playing in its lifetime. Both the tone and action are superb. Size 6ft. 4in. Serial number 192161.
