This fine Steinway has been in the family of one of our teachers for decades. It is a rare walnut cased model, with the entire cabinet including the legs veneered in American Walnut. Although the piano plays well and has a fabulous tone, no one would deny that it is ready for a complete rebuild, and complete refinishing of the case. The good news is that the soundboard is in excellent condition, and the piano has never been wrecked by any of the so-called "master rebuilders" who are out there destroying old Steinways on a regular basis. Interested parties should visit the website of Callahan Piano Service, our family rebuilding shop where this piano can be restored to its original glory, a process chronicled in the recent documentary film by Oscar winning director John Korty, "Miracle in a Box". Size 5ft. 10in. serial no. 259848.
