Thea
Farhadian
Thea
Farhadian (M.A.) has performed classical, Arabic, North African,
Sephardic, Cuban and free/atonal improvisational styles. She has
performed with the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra, ASWAT, Moe Alilech,
Charunga Tumbao e Cuerdas, Estrea d/Oro, and SF State faculty music
performances. She has participated in solo and collaborative performances
in the SF area, New York, Berlin, and Armenia. She has 17 years
of teaching experience in schools and individuals, and has a California
teaching credential. Thea enjoys working with both children and
adults.
Thea teaches in her home studio in Oakland.
Hillary
Overberg
Hillary
is a Master's student at Mills College in Oakland, California. Her
degree is in violin performance with an focus on classical improvisation.
She has had the privilege of studying with such renowned violinists
as long time Berkeley resident, David Abel, and former Arditti quartet
member, Graham Jennings. As an undergraduate, she studied violin
at the University of Rochester and the Eastman School of Music in
Rochester, New York. She earned her B.A. in Ethnomusicology in 2003.
The degree carries with it a diploma in world music and a minor
in English Literature.
