Piedmont Piano Company is pleased to present

Dan Pugach Nonet (NYC)
"Plus One" Debut CD Release

Dan Pugach is a Brooklyn-based, two-time ASCAP Jazz Composer Award-winning drummer/composer/arranger. His Nonet debut, Plus One, recalls the Thad Jones and Mel Lewis Big Band, Bob Mintzer Big Band, and the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra – expressed in a far smaller ensemble, what Dan calls “a mini big band.” Deft compositions, brilliant arrangements, exceptional musicians, and Dan's silken rhythmic touch make Plus One a special outing.

Dan Pugach is a Brooklyn-based drummer and composer described as “Rock-solid on drums" by Frank Alkyer (Downbeat). Pugach has worked with various artists, such as Tom Chapin, Livingston Taylor, Sloan and Lucy Wainwright, Ingrid Jensen, Rosa Passos, Airto Moreira, Gregoire Maret, Billy Drews, Jeremy Pelt, Wayne Bergeron and Dave Stryker, to name a few. His work has got him a reputation of one of the most versatile and sought-after drummers in New York City.

Dan Pugach Nonet is his 9-piece ensemble which features Dan's original compositions, as well as his inventive arrangements of jazz standards and pop material. This project has already won two ASCAP Jazz Composer Awards and a prestigious residency at the Kennedy Center for the Arts in Washington D.C. Its debut album was recently recorded in 2017 featuring Ingrid Jensen on trumpet.

Originally from Israel, Dan served his mandatory three-year military duty as the drummer of the Air-Force Orchestra.
