In June, the Arterik Quartet released their 90 minute album The Silver Fox, recorded at the Hillside Club in Berkeley. The Band will bring a book full of new, original compositions, accompanied by new stories, new vibes, and their distinctive, high level of creative energy. Featuring Art Lande (piano), Erik Jekabson (trumpet and flugelhorn), Peter Barshay (bass), and Alan Hall (drums). CDs will be available for purchase at this show.

We are offering a limited number of tickets to attend this performance in person. Advance purchase is required. Ticket holders must be fully vaccinated to attend, and will be asked to show proof of vaccination at the door.


ART LANDE piano
Grammy-nominated Art Lande is an internationally known pianist, composer, improviser, drummer and educator who has performed with a long list of the Who's Who in jazz, including Joe Henderson, Woody Shaw, Bobby Hutcherson, Steve Swallow, Charlie Haden, Kenny Wheeler, Sheila Jordan, Mark Isham, Paul McCandless, Jan Garbarek and many others.

His band, Rubisa Patrol, was formed in the mid 70's and worked through 1983, traveling to Europe often and recording with ECM Records. After teaching for three years in Switzerland, Lande moved to Boulder, Colorado, where he played a weekly performance for 15 years! Each week had different music and drew from a large list of different bands, members and seasonal special guests from nearly everywhere. Live performances are not to be missed, an occasion full of musical adventure and inspiration, spontaneity, warmth and soul.

Art is also well known for his innovative approaches to teaching piano, improvisation and ear training. He currently has many regular bands and students in Boulder and often travels internationally for workshops, camps and performances. artlande.com


ERIK JEKABSON trumpet and flugelhorn
Erik Jekabson is a freelance trumpet player, composer, arranger and educator who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.  He is equally busy playing and composing for different bands, leading his own groups, (the Erik Jekabson Sextet, the String-tet and the Electric Squeezebox Orchestra) teaching a wide variety of students and running the Young Musicians Program at the California Jazz Conservatory.

Erik has eight CDs out under his own name: his most recent album is “One Note at a Time” (2020) on the Wide Hive label. He’s spent time on the road with Illinois Jacquet, John Mayer, Galactic, and the Howard Fishman Quartet, and has performed at such notable venues as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Algonquin Room, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Madison Square Garden, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Night with David Letterman.

As an arranger and composer, he’s arranged for both vocalists and instrumental ensembles. He currently leads his own ensembles in the Bay Area, and has brought them to many festivals and venues.

Erik holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and a Master’s Degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He’s a regular instructor at Jazzcamp West, the Stanford Jazz Workshop, the Lafayette Summer Jazz Workshop and the  Brubeck Institute, and has written two books of jazz duets for trumpet.  erikjekabson.com


PETER BARSHAY bass
A veteran bassist who has established a strong reputation over the years from his sideman work on both the New York City and San Francisco Bay Area jazz scenes, Peter Barshay has performed with such jazz luminaries as Kenny Barron, Freddie Hubbard, Sonny Stitt, Kenny Werner, Shirley Horn, Woody Shaw, Pharoah Sanders, Blue Mitchell, Tony Williams, Joe Henderson, Joe Lovano, Johnny Griffin, and Bobby McFerrin.

Barshay’s numerous appearances at clubs and jazz festivals have taken him around the world, helping to establish his reputation as a solid, reliable bassist. Having soaked up a lifetime of sounds on both coasts -- everything from salsa and straight ahead to funk-fusion, avant garde and music derived from the Afro-Cuban and Brazilian traditions -- he brings a wealth of experience to the musical table.


ALAN HALL drums
Alan Hall has been a professional drummer for over 45 years. He’s performed and/or recorded with international jazz artists Lee Konitz, Paul McCandless, Art Lande, Ed Simon, Geoffrey Keezer, Kenny Washington, Rebecca Parris, and Joyce Cooling. He’s performed with Cirque Du Soliel, Teatro Zinzanni, Wicked S.F. He’s toured in Europe, USA, and Canada with various artists and groups, playing various styles. He has taught at Berklee College of Music, California Jazz Conservatory, Monterrey Jazz Festival Middle School and High School Summer Camp, JazzCamp West, Cal State East Bay, and Lafayette Summer Music Jazz Camp. He’s written two drum books published by Sher Music and has written articles that have appeared in Down Beat and Percussive Notes magazines. jazzdrumming.com
