Soprano Mary Ellen Callahan presents a program of Bach Cantatas, accompanied by pianist Daniel Lockert. They will perform “Ich habe genug”, the famous gorgeous cantata, and "Weichet nur betrubte Schatten," the adorable wedding cantata interspersed with an opportunity to sing two Bach chorales with Mary and Dan.

MARY ELLEN CALLAHAN
Bay Area native Mary Ellen Callahan appears as soloist across the nation in a variety of repertoires. Recent performances include Bach’s St. John Passion at Lincoln Center, Mahler's Eighth Symphony and Handel’s Messiah in Carnegie Hall, Carmina Burana in the Metropolitan Opera House, and the Bach B Minor Mass and Mozart Mass in C Minor at the Kennedy Center.

An avid recitalist, Ms. Callahan collaborates frequently with artists in New York and on the West Coast in music ranging from the early Baroque to works by living composers. Her solo recital in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall was sung to a sold-out house. After living and working in New York City for 26 years, she has now returned to her beloved Bay Area. Returning to New York regularly, she continues to perform and teach both in the Bay Area and on the East Coast. maryellencallahan.com

DANIEL LOCKERT
As a soloist or collaborator, Daniel Lockert is equally versatile on the piano, organ and harpsichord. In his role as pianist-collaborator, his wide ranging career has taken him around the globe, playing throughout the USA, Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. In his role as coach and teacher, Daniel has been on the staffs and faculties of the Juilliard School, the San Francisco Opera, Opera San Jose, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Chapman University, Cal State East Bay, and the Aspen Music Festival. This summer he was accompanist for the chorus at the Mendocino Music Festival, conducted by his wife, Jenny Matteucci. He currently is professor of Collaborative Piano at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA as well as Staff Accompanist at Mills College, Oakland, CA.
