MICHAEL MANRING
Hailed by many as the world’s leading solo bassist, Michael Manring has been pushing back the boundaries of what’s possible on the bass guitar for over two decades. A student of bass legend Jaco Pastorius, Michael has honed his skills on hundreds of recordings and thousands of live shows around the world, working with a diverse collection of artists including the late guitar genius Michael Hedges, New Age keyboardist Suzanne Ciani, avant-improv guitar innovator Henry Kaiser, celebrated folk troubadour John Gorka, experimental post-metal rockers Tim Alexander (Primus) and Alex Skolnick (Testament) and electro-pop pioneer Thomas Dolby. He has earned two gold records, Grammy and Bammie nominations, a Berklee School of Music Distinguished Alumni Award, two Just Plain Folks Awards and numerous Bass Player Magazine Reader's Poll awards including 1994 Bassist of the Year. He currently focuses his energies on his innovative solo concerts where he displays the expressive skills that led The San Jose Mercury News to call him "...a virtuoso electric bassist who's almost single-handedly re-defined the outer limits of the instrument" and The Philadelphia Inquirer to refer to him as simply "...the hottest bassist today."

DAVID FRANKLIN
A lifelong musician and licensed psychotherapist, David Franklin has spent 45 years exploring musical genres and experimenting with sound.  Growing up in New Jersey, David taught himself drums, guitar, piano and voice and by age 15, was learning how to record on analog machines.  He supported himself as a drummer and played keyboards in New York City bands; he recorded and toured as a singer-songwriter and even walked across the country with his guitar.  His sonic curiosities led to him to record 2 albums using “found sounds” and he created an album to induce trance-states.  Recently, he’s written and recorded instrumental albums - such as Playing With Shadows, featuring Michael Manring - and his music has been used by choreographers such as Rogelio Lopez and Dancers.  He’s performed in Europe with modern-dance companies and his music is often featured on SiriusXM radio.  His last 2 albums made the Top 10 on the ZMR Instrumental Charts.  His new album – his 10th to date - is titled Passings, a collection of 15 instrumental songs for piano and guitar, featuring Michael Manring and Alex (“Owl Licks”) Franklin.  David resides in Oakland, California.
