Tim Silva

Choral artist, conductor, and educator Tim Silva will sing an eclectic set of songs, including some originals.  He’ll talk about growing up in the East Bay, teaching music around the bay, his wide array of collaborative work, and his love of plants. Followed by audience Q & A. Hosted by vocalist Sharmila G. Lash.

TIM SILVA
East Bay native Tim Silva has performed with the Artists’ Vocal Ensemble (AVE), SF Choral Artists, Chalice Consort, Marin Symphony, Chorus, ForeignFire, et al, and regularly appears with Volti. He will make his debut with Gaude this fall. With Volti, he has worked with the SF Opera Orchestra, the Russian National Orchestra, and the Kronos Quartet, in addition to several composers. He is an active performer with several independent projects, and is one-third of the folk-pop trio Iron Henry. He produces and promotes live music events throughout the bay area. He holds a degree in Music Education and composition from UCLA. In addition to seven years as music teacher and program coordinator at St. Leander School, Tim has served as a voice and/or musicianship coach for Piedmont East Bay Children's Choirs' Summer camp program for the past three years, and has served several other choirs in the area.  He directs Throckappella, a teen-age a cappella program at the Throckmorton Theater, where he is also a section-leader/soloist for the Theater Chorus.  In his free time, he enjoys baseball and propagating plants.

SHARMILA G. LASH
Sharmila G. Lash is sought after as a jazz and classical singer, as well as for her voice-over work. She is a private voice instructor, works as a session singer for film and television, and is a regular chorister with the Los Angeles Master Chorale. Teaching steadily since 2004, she incorporates her vast professional experience to help guide students to find their own voice. Sharmila began her music studies with piano lessons at age six and singing lessons at age eleven. She was a music student at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and continued on to study classical voice at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she discovered her passion for jazz. She has performed on some of the biggest stages in California, led by Gustavo Dudamel, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Michael Tilson Thomas, Zubin Mehta, and others, with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, Kronos Quartet, Volti, Carmen Lundy, Don Shelton, Luciana Souza, as well as with many other top jazz and classical musicians in both Northern and Southern California. sharmilaguhalash.com
